Eintracht Frankfurt striker Ioannis Amanatidis is likely to be out of action until the New Year as he needs surgery on a knee injury.
The Greek international, who had been suffering with knee problems for several weeks, came off the bench to score a dramatic injury time winner in the 2-1 victory over Karlsruhe on Wednesday.
But the influential club captain further aggravated his injury during the game and an examination by club doctors has now revealed that an operation is necessary.
His loss is a major blow for under-fire Eintracht coach Friedhelm Funkel, whose side are currently 15th in the Bundesliga with just six points from their opening eight matches.
