Turkish star attracting interest

Real Betis insist they have received no approaches for sought-after midfielder Mehmet Aurelio. The Turkey international only moved to the Primera Liga outfit from Fenerbahce over the summer, but is already drawing admiring glances from elsewhere. The Brazilian-born 30-year-old is reported to be a transfer target for a number of clubs in England, with Blackburn and Portsmouth touted as potential destinations. However, having penned a contract until 2011 upon his arrival, Betis insist Aurelio is going nowhere. "We have not received any offers for the player and we remain confident of keeping him," a club spokesman told skysports.com. Speculation has suggested that a bid of around 10million euros (£8.2m) may be enough to tempt Betis into a change of heart, although that figure will continue to rise as interest mounts. A number of eye-catching displays this term have brought him to the attention of Europe's top sides, although his agent confirmed that a New Year transfer remains unlikely. "He is very happy in Seville," he said.
