Midfielder signs loan deal
Port Vale have signed Neil MacKenzie from League Two rivals Notts County.
The 32-year-old midfielder has arrived on an initial month-long loan and is in contention to make his debut against Macclesfield in the FA Cup on Friday.
MacKenzie, who began his career at Vale's city rivals Stoke, is looking forward to his chance at Vale Park.
"It has come very much as a surprise. I got a phone call from my agent, Ian Taylor, who used to play for Port Vale of course, he had already spoken to Dean Glover about bringing me in and it happened overnight really," said MacKenzie.
"I am experienced and have played a lot of games at this level and the level above and I have been itching to get a game this year, but for whatever reason the gaffer at Notts County has chosen not to go down that road.
"I've been chomping at the bit to get a chance. I'm fit because I have played in a couple of reserve games in the last couple of weeks so I am raring to go."
