Ex-Saint Idiakez training with Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Jimmy Quinn could make a shock move for former Southampton and Derby County veteran Inigo Idiakez. The Cherries boss confirmed that the 35-year-old Spaniard has trained with the club, after a recommendation from Southampton coach David Hockaday. Idiakez has made over 100 appearances in England, netting 23 goals since his move from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in 2004. The midfield maestro would be an ideal replacement for the Cherries following the retirement of Darren Anderton and Quinn explained: "He's just been training with us. He's been out for a few months." "Dave Hockaday, a good friend of mine at Southampton, said to have a look at him so that's what I'm doing."

Yet Quinn is only pondering the potential transfer due to the Spaniard's fitness, adding: "I don't know how fit he is, but I know he's a decent player. He's certainly got quality." "I've agreed to have a look at him in training over the next week or two and hopefully in a reserve game. We'll make a decision for January." The Cherries chief continued: "He's had an Achilles problem and had a minor operation. It's taken him five months, but he's back to fitness now and has been working hard." "There are no guarantees and we'll see what he's like."
