Cruciate ligament damage for Australian

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that Brett Emerton has suffered knee ligament damage and will miss the rest of the season. The Australian suffered the injury during the 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough at the weekend. Scans have now confirmed that Emerton has damage his cruciate ligament and will need surgery. The former Feyenoord star is expected be sidelined for at least six months but he could be out for as long as nine months. Although a huge blow to manager Sam Allardyce, he does have a ready-made replacement to come in on the right of midfield having finalised the signing of El-Hadji Diouf from Sunderland late last week. Meanwhile, Blackburn have allowed young striker Martin McCubbin to join Welsh Premier League side Technogroup Welshpool on loan until the end of the season. The 18-year-old is well down the pecking order at Ewood Park and Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is happy to loan him out so that he get some valuable first team experience under his belt.
