Morecambe defender handed extension

Danny Adams has been rewarded with a one-year extension to his contract with League Two side Morecambe. Former Stockport and Huddersfield defender Adams will now remain with the Christie Park club until the end of the 2009/10 season. Manager Sammy McIlroy was particularly impressed with Adams' display in Saturday's 3-1 win over Chester and is happy to have agreed improved terms with the full-back. He said: "Danny has been a fantastic player for this club and his experience has been vital since we joined the Football League. "He showed again on Saturday what an important player he is and I am glad that he has committed himself to the club for another year."
