Striker facing lengthy spell out
Kilmarnock striker Allan Russell admits he is 'gutted' at being ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.
Russell faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in training last week.
The 28-year-old has seen his time at Rugby Park blighted by injury since his arrival from Airdrie last summer, but he is determined to bounce back from his latest setback.
"I'm determined to come back even stronger from this, that's the plan," Russell told the
Daily Record.
"I will have surgery in about four weeks and then I'll get straight into the rehab.
"I'm gutted by what's happened but just like the previous injuries you take it on the chin and do what you have to to come back stronger.
"Unfortunately I need to do that again although I'll be out for longer this time. I'll have a lot more rehab work to do but I just need to approach it with the right attitude.
"It will be a long time without kicking a ball so mentally it will be tough as I'm right out of the frame and won't be involved daily in training."
