Marcelo Bordon expects to be on his way out of Schalke at the end of the current campaign.
The troubled Bundesliga outfit have announced plans to cut costs dramatically in the summer and a player exodus is inevitable.
Brazil international defender Bordon has accepted that he may be one of those forced to look elsewhere for employment.
Despite being a former captain of the club, the 33-year-old centre-half has struggled with injury of late and is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements.
Having spent the last five years at Schalke, Bordon insists he would not look to join another side in Germany were he to be discarded, while he has also ruled out a possible return to his homeland.
"At the moment, I don't have the feeling that I will be a Schalke player next season," he said.
"The team needs to be reconstructed and if I am part of the problem, then I must go.
"If after the end of the season I don't hear anything, I will leave.
"But I will not go back to Brazil and I probably won't stay in the Bundesliga as I love this club too much."
