Carlisle midfielder Grant Smith has left the club by mutual consent after a frustrating season.
Smith has struggled to hold down a regular place in the side since joining the Cumbrians in January 2008.
He has made just 16 starts and has not made an appearance since October so the decision has been taken for him to depart Brunton Park.
"Grant has been an excellent professional but it hasn't worked out for him this season," manager Gregg Abbott told his club's
official website.
"He knew that he wasn't part of our plans, so we have come to an agreement that allows him to move on.
"It goes without saying that we wish him all the very best for the future."
