Midfielder eager to aid next season's promotion challenge

Charlton Athletic veteran Matt Holland is hoping he will be offered a new contract at the Valley. Holland is one of a host of Addicks players whose contract expires at the end of the season, with decisions about extensions currently on hold. The midfielder has spent six years at Charlton and is eager to be part of the squad which will be targeting promotion from League One next term. "I think all talks of contracts have been put on the back-burner," Holland told the club's official website. "I guess the 11 players who are out of contract will have discussions soon. "Hopefully I will be here next season and be part of a team pushing for promotion." The former Republic of Ireland international has made 38 appearances for Charlton this season and has featured in over 200 first-team games since his arrival from Ipswich Town in 2003.
