Queen of the South striker attracting interest

Swansea City are leading the chase for Stephen Dobbie and look set to clinch his signing on a Bosman transfer. A host of clubs from England and the SPL have been chasing the Queen of the South marksman - who was top-scorer in the Scottish First Division this year with 24 goals to his name. The Doonhammers insists they have done their utmost to try and keep Dobbie at Palmerston Park. "Stephen has been offered the best contract we could possibly offer anyone as we are desperate to keep him," said manager Gordon Chisholm. "There's a lot of competition from down south and the Premier League, but don't underestimate how much we want him." Dobbie admits he is considering a number of offers, adding: "I've had a few offers from up here and down south. I just have to sit down with my agent and see what's happening." Reports claim that Swans boss Roberto Martinez is poised to clinch a double Scottish swoop, as he also wants former Hearts midfielder Saulius Mikoliunas. The Lithuanian international is available on a free transfer after leaving Tynecastle last week.
