Walsall set to release Hughes, Ricketts, Boertien and Bacchus

Walsall have announced that Stephen Hughes, Michael Ricketts, Paul Boertien and Hassan Bacchus are to be released. The quartet are set to be out of contract over the summer and will not be offered new deals. Hughes is a former England U21 international who can boast the likes of Coventry, Arsenal and Everton on his CV. Ricketts is an experienced striker who is in his second spell with the Saddlers, while Boertien is a full-back best remembered for his days at Derby. Bacchus is a product of Walsall's youth academy, but has failed to make the grade in the senior fold. "We would like to thank Stephen, Michael, Paul and Hassan for their efforts during the course of the season and wish them all the very best for the future," Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings told the club's official website. Meanwhile, eight other players that were set to see their contracts expire in the near future have been offered new terms. Clayton Ince, Rene Gilmartin, Manny Smith, Netan Sansara, Sofiene Zaaboub, Jabo Ibehre, Richard Davies and Chris Palmer are all mulling over extensions.
