Joyce to decide on 12-month extension

Southend United have offered American goalkeeper Ian Joyce a new one-year contract. Joyce has made three appearances in League One for the Shrimpers after joining the club last summer following spells at Watford and Grays Athletic. He has now been given the chance to stay at Roots Hall and Southend boss Steve Tilson is waiting for the 23-year-old to make a decision on his future. "We've offered Ian another year's contract," Tilson told the club's official website. "He did well when called upon in the first team last season, but he knows he still has things to work on. "He's improving during the year with us and that is why we have decided to offer him a new contract. "The ball is now in his court as to whether or not he decides to accept it."
