Brazilian midfielder Fabio Santos has left Lyon after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
The 28-year-old moved to France in January 2007 but struggled to make an impact at Stade Gerland.
Now, after suffering a falling out with coach Claude Puel, both parties have decided it is best he moves on.
"Olympique Lyon and Fabio Santos have decided to end, with immediate effect, the contract that was binding them until 30th June 2010," Lyon said in a statement.
Santos is reported to have clashed with Puel during the half-time interval of Lyon's 2-0 defeat at Valenciennes on 2nd May.
