Oldham striker to decide on future

Oldham Athletic are waiting on Matthew Wolfenden to get back to them with a decision over his contract offer. The young striker has been offered a short-term deal to prove himself under new boss Dave Penney at Boundary Park. Penney has been quick to make his mark on the League One outfit since taking over from temporary boss Joe Royle at the end of the season, having overseen a large scale cull of the club's playing staff. Indeed, Wolfenden, who has made 47 appearances since making his debut in November 2003, is the only out-of-contract player that could still be at the club next season. Mark Allott was offered but rejected new terms, while the likes of Sean Gregan, Mark Crossley, Andy Liddell, JP Kalala, Stefan Stam and Kevin Maher have all been released.
