Wotte knows squad will change after relegation

Southampton boss Mark Wotte knows he will not be able to keep all of his squad together after relegation to League One. The cash-strapped Saints, who slipped into administration before dropping out of the Championship, know they will have to cut their playing budget for next term. Grzegorz Rasiak and Marek Saganowski have already made it known they are keen to move on, with Wotte admitting the duo's wages would have been prohibitively high. But the Saints boss has resigned himself to that fact that other players who he is keen to keep may move on in a bid to balance the books.

Replacements

The Saints boss told the club's official website: "When you get relegated from the Championship you must accept that you are going to lose one or two players and I'm not just talking about Grzegorz Rasiak or Marek Saganowski, who have both expressed an interest in leaving the club. They can go, though, because they are too expensive for League One anyway. "Nobody else has come out and said they want to leave, but we must also accept that we have a lot of footballing talents who may influence the financial side of things. One or two may go, and if they do, then you have to try and find replacements for less money." But Wotte is confident the South Coast club will be an attractive proposition to any new signings. "We have Premier League facilities which are very important for players to have," he continued. "They need the right circumstances to play and train in, so there are a lot of plusses for the club apart from the fact it is in League One."
