Fluminense considering move for Spurs man

Fluminense coach Carlos Albert Parreira has declared an interest in Tottenham defender Gilberto. The Brazilian left-back moved to White Hart Lane from Hertha Berlin in January 2008 but has been unable to make much of an impact. His debut for the club was delayed due to injury and he then struggled to impress when given the opportunity. Gilberto also made a made a couple of costly mistakes and fell further down the pecking order when Harry Redknapp took charge. Redknapp admitted in December that 'there was not really a way back' for Gilberto at Tottenham as he had lost too much confidence. And it now appears his days with the club could be numbered, with Parreira considering whether to offer the 33-year-old a route back to his homeland. "Gilberto is a name that we have already discussed at the club," Parreira said in The Times. "He is a player who could help us."
