Patulea and Mullarkey turn down contract offers
Lincoln City have been rocked by the news that Adrian Patulea and Sam Mullarkey have rejected new contracts.
The Imps are in danger of facing a striker shortage should a compromise with the duo fail to be found.
Lincoln had hoped that Romanian frontman Patulea, last season's top scorer, would agree to pen a one-year extension to remain with the club, but he has rejected the terms currently on offer.
Peter Jackson will hold talks with the 24-year-old when he returns from holiday but, amid talk of interest from Championship outfit Scunthorpe, Imps chairman Steff Wright fears those discussions will be to no avail.
"Adrian has rejected his contract and the deadline that was set to reach an agreement (Tuesday) has since come and gone" he told the
Lincolnshire Echo.
"The consequence of that is we now have the power to withdraw the offer altogether.
Future
"The ball is back in our court now with respect to his future and Peter must decide whether he is willing to sit down at the negotiating table again.
"I know the question that is bound to be asked is 'will he be here next season?'
"I would say at this stage that looks unlikely, because the player may have his eye on moving somewhere else."
Mullarkey, meanwhile, has also turned down the offer of a new deal at Sincil Bank in the hope of finding something better elsewhere.
"Sam has rejected his contract and, similar to Adrian, it will be down to Peter to decide whether he wants to sit down and negotiate with him again," added Wright.
