Midfielder attracting interest from Scotland, Turkey and Germany

Borussia Monchengladbach have entered the race to sign Real Mallorca star Juan Arango, sources close to the club have revealed. The Venezuelan midfielder has attracted interest from Celtic and Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, but Bundesliga club Monchengladbach now appear to be leading the chase. Michael Frontzeck's side, who finished 15th last season, have bid €3.6m for the attacking midfielder but talks have hit a snag as the Spanish club are holding out for closer to €4m. Mallorca have amassed debts of to €45m and see Arango as their biggest asset but the player's sell on clause for former club Puebla has caused a difference of opinion in the player's worth. The Mexican outfit are entitled to 15% of any sale, therefore Mallorca have upped his asking price as they look to reduce their arrears. "It is certain that Arango interests some clubs but the decision corresponds to Mallorca," said the player's agent Salvador Maestro. "The player is calm and only disposed to leave Mallorca by a good project and not exclusively by the money." Arango has netted almost 40 goals in the Primera Division during five seasons with Mallorca and is currently contracted to the club until 2010.
