United boss confident clubs can come to an agreement for striker
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell remains confident he can sign Manchester City's Ched Evans.
The Blades have had an initial bid turned down but Blackwell is sure the two clubs can come to some sort of agreement for the striker.
Reports in some newspapers on Monday suggested Championship rivals West Brom were close to signing the 20-year-old, but as of yet nothing has been confirmed.
The former Leeds boss has been busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to go one better than last season's play-off final defeat against Burnley.
The Blades have already had bids accepted for Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe and Watford pair Tommy Smith and John-Joe O'Toole while Fulham wide man Julian Gray has been brought in on trial.
"We're still monitoring the situation," he told
Radio Sheffield. "Manchester City know we're interested and our bid is on the table.
"City have only just returned for pre-season and we are now waiting for them to decide what happens next."
Although highly-rated by City boss Mark Hughes, Evans has found himself pushed further down the pecking order at Eastlands after the arrival of Roque Santa Cruz and the reported impending signing of Carlos Tevez.
Unsettled
Meanwhile Sun Jihai has left the club after just one season at Bramall Lane, where he featured just 17 times in all competitions.
"Sun found it difficult to settle here," he added. "He was living with his mother and missed his family.
"He was a great professional and was a great example to the young players at the club. I wish him all the best."
