Allen keen for striker to sign permanently
Martin Allen is hoping to bring veteran striker Barry Hayles back to Cheltenham Town on a permanent basis.
Hayles scored four goals in 12 League One appearances for the Robins in two loan spells last season and has since been released by Leicester City.
He is training with Cheltenham during pre-season and Allen is determined to agree a deal to keep hold of the 37-year-old.
"If we can get Barry Hayles in, it will be a tremendous signing," Allen told the
Gloucestershire Echo.
"He has undoubted quality, he will score goals and there is no doubt in my mind that if we had kept him last season we would have stayed up.
"He would be a huge boost to all our players and supporters and we will be having talks.
"I am very keen to sort a deal out because he would make a massive difference if we can keep him fit."
