Marseille have confirmed they expect veteran striker Fernando Morientes to join them on Tuesday. The 33-year-old former Spain international is looking for a new club after leaving Valencia, where he has spent the past three seasons. Morientes, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Monaco in the 2003/04 season, scored 27 for his country in 47 appearances. L'OM have confirmed they have agreed in principle a deal with the striker, who will officially put pen-to-paper on Tuesday. "An agreement in principle has been found this Monday afternoon with Fernando Morientes," read a statement on the club's official website. "The Spanish striker, who played in the colours of Valencia in 2008/09, is available on a free transfer. "He should be at Marseille on Tuesday to sign his contract."

Double deal

Meanwhile, Marseille have also confirmed they are signing Lorient midfielder Fabrice Abriel for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old has agreed a three-year deal is expected to finalise the move later on Monday. "An agreement was made on Monday for the transfer to OM of Fabrice Abriel (Lorient)," the club confirmed. "The midfielder is going to sign for three years."
