Skysports.com understands that Steve Haslam is undergoing a trial at League One outfit Hartlepool.
The defender is available as a free agent his summer after being released by Bury at the end of last season.
The 29-year-old will be hoping he can do enough during his time at Victoria Park to ensure that he is not without a club for long.
Haslam began his career at Sheffield Wednesday, where he was released by current Pools boss Chris Turner, before going on to take in spells at Halifax and Northampton.
He had spent the last two years at Bury, but was not offered new terms by the Shakers once his contract came to an end.
Hartlepool have been busy in their pursuit of fresh faces during the off-season and Haslam will be hoping he can become the latest new recruit to join Turner's squad.
