Italian giants in talks about signing Roma from Monaco

AC Milan are in talks about securing the services of veteran Monaco keeper Flavio Roma. The 35-year-old former Italy international is now No.2 at Monaco, where he has been since 2001, and Milan would like to sign him if they can cancel the contract of Zeljko Kalac. Despite being under contract until 2010 at Monaco, the club will not stand in Roma's way if he chooses to leave. Milan general manager Adriano Galliani told L'Equipe: "We are close to a contract cancellation with one of our keepers, Zeljko Kalac. "If we make it we will hire Flavio Roma." Monaco general manager Marc Keller added: "It is true that there are currently talks between both clubs. "Considering what Flavio did for the club and his character, obviously we won't stand in the way of his departure."
