Argentinian defender seals switch to Croatian champions

Argentinian defender Leandro Cufre has sealed a switch to Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb. The player, who is on a salary of 650,000 euros a year, moved to Europe from Argentina outfit Gimnasia La Plata in 2002. He previously had spells with Roma, Siena and Monaco before a brief loan to Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin last term. After signing a two-year deal with Dinamo, the 31-year-old said he can not wait to get started on this new chapter of his career. He said: "I feel as though this is my first club, like a 17-year-old youngster once again.

Match expectations

"I hope I can match the expectations." Cufre gained notoriety when he became the first player to be sent off after the final whistle in the 2006 World Cup finals. He was red carded as an unused substitute for his part in the post-match brawl that followed Argentina's quarter final exit to Germany on penalties.
