Italian midfielder heads home

Massimo Donati has completed his move from SPL side Celtic to Serie A outfit Bari. The midfielder joined the Hoops from AC Milan in 2007 and made over 50 appearances for the Glasgow giants during his time in Scotland. He enjoyed a productive first season at Parkhead, claiming the SPL title, but fell out with boss Gordon Strachan last term. That led to rumours suggesting he could be on the move this summer. He was welcomed back into the first-team fold by new Celtic boss Tony Mowbray, but Donati admits he had already set his heart on returning to his homeland. "I asked Celtic for the chance to return to Italy and I am very grateful for granting me that wish," Donati told Celtic's official website. "The new manager at Celtic trusted me and respected me but my desire to return to Italy was too strong. "I'll miss playing in Scotland. The league is more physical and the Italian league is obviously more technical. "But what I will miss most of all is the fantastic supporters and the atmosphere they create at games. We can learn a lot from them in Italy."
