McParland weighing up deal for Maltese striker

Notts County manager Ian McParland admits former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud would be a 'good addition' to his squad.

Skysports.com revealed last week that the ambitious League Two side had lined up a move for Mifsud, who is a free agent after leaving Coventry at the end of last season.

He has been wanted by several clubs during the summer, with Ankaragucu and Larissa having made offers to take the forward to the continent.

Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic and Leeds United have also shown an interest in keeping the Maltese ace in English football, but he could now be heading to Meadow Lane.

Though McParland did not confirm whether a deal for Mifsud is imminent, he acknowledged the quality the 28-year-old could bring to his squad.

McParland told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I know he's available and he would be a good addition to our squad, but let's wait and see."

If Mifsud accepts a move to Meadow Lane, he will become the latest high-profile signing for the club following the recent captures of Sol Campbell and Kasper Schmeichel.
