Striker joins League Two outfit on trial after last playing for the club in 2000

Former loanee Wayne Gray has returned to Port Vale on trial with Micky Adams' side. The striker first joined the Valiants back in 2000 on a one-month loan deal from Wimbledon when Brian Horton was in charge at Vale Park. But he failed to score in three League One appearances and went on to play for a host of other clubs, including Southend and Yeovil. The 28-year-old then left Leyton Orient in the summer following a two-year spell at the club in which he scored eight goals in 54 league appearances. The free agent trained with Vale on Tuesday and will feature in their reserves clash at Macclesfield Town on Wednesday night.
