West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Dean Kiely has revealed Jerome Thomas apologised after being sent off in the Carling Cup defeat by Arsenal.
Thomas, who started his career with the Gunners, was dismissed towards the latter stages of the first half for pushing Jack Wilshere in the face.
Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo was disappointed with Wilshere's role in the incident after the Arsenal starlet made comments towards Thomas.
The winger has said sorry for his red card in the 2-0 loss at Emirates Stadium and veteran keeper Kiely has praised his team-mate for acknowledging his mistake.
"Jerome didn't really elaborate on what happened, but he was obviously disappointed because it led to him being sent off and he felt he had let us down a bit," Kiely told the club's
official website.
"But fair play to him for his reaction when we all came in.
"First and foremost he shook all of our hands and apologised.
"From a negative situation that is a decent reaction because I have seen similar situations where the person involved cowers away in the corner and hopes nobody says anything, so, for him to do that was quite a plus for him.
"It probably tells you a lot about our squad.
"We are on a bit of a mission, we know where we want to be and we know the ingredients needed to get back there.
"People only see 90 minutes in a match, but a lot of the good, hard work happens from Monday to Friday."
