Bulls extend unbeaten run

Ryan Valentine's second-half penalty extended Hereford's unbeaten run to five matches and sealed a 1-0 victory over Chesterfield at Edgar Street. Both sides had openings in the first three minutes with Chesterfield's Donal McDermott having a shot pushed away for a corner by Hereford keeper Adam Bartlett. Hereford rallied with Mathiew Manset releasing James Walker but his low shot was blocked by Chesterfield's keeper Tommy Lee. Straight after the break Hereford striker Walker drilled the ball wide from close range but the visitors were unlucky not to take the lead when a rasping 20-yard drive from David Perkins rebounded off the crossbar. But it was Hereford who went in front in the 58th minute when Valentine coolly slotted home from the spot after after Rob Page was adjudged to have fouled Mark Marshall. Substitute Scott Boden netted for Chesterfield in the closing stages but his effort was ruled out for offside by referee Andy Hall.
