Dortmund defender out for around six weeks

Borussia Dortmund defender Dede has been ruled out until the New Year after undergoing knee surgery. The 31-year-old will rest until January after damaging ligaments in his right knee in last weekend's 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen. The former Atletico Mineiro man has endured a torrid time with injury since tearing cruciate knee ligaments in August 2008. The Brazilian then needed a second operation in the same knee in February causing him to make just a handful of appearances before the end the season. Dede, now Dortmund's longest serving player, suffered a broken jaw at the start of this campaign and after only recently winning his place back discovered he would need to go under the knife once more - albeit on his other knee.
