Shrewsbury have revealed that Michael Jackson may require surgery on a persistent knee problem.
The injury, which has been carried over from last season, has sidelined the veteran defender for the entire 2009/10 campaign so far.
He has been working hard to try and shake off the knock and travelled to see a specialist on Wednesday in an effort to get to the bottom of the complaint.
There has been a slight improvement in Jackson's condition over recent weeks, allowing him to step up his rehabilitation, but an operation has not been ruled out of the equation.
"The specialist revealed that there had been a slight improvement on his problem with the knee joint," Shrews boss Paul Simpson told the club's
official website.
"Jacko will build up the work that he's doing and load the joint over the next four weeks.
"If everything goes to plan then we would be looking to get him back into training after that but if it doesn't then Jacko will need an operation on his knee."
