Novak desires Blues switch

Jan Novak claims Birmingham boss Alex McLeish gave him the impression he wants to sign him in January.

Striker hopes to seal 'dream' move to St Andrews

Jan Novak claims Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has given all the right signals about signing the striker in January. The MFK Kosice forward spent last week on trial at the Blues and spoke on Monday of his enjoyment while training with the Premier League outfit. Novak is currently on holiday as Kosice are in a winter break from domestic duties, but the 23-year-old is expected to be back in the West Midlands when the transfer window opens as McLeish is keen to bolster his attacking options. The Scot looks certain to invest in a new striker with City short up front and the Slovakian international is convinced he will be plying his trade at St Andrews next year after a productive conversation with the Blues tactician. "Birmingham City are a top club of high quality," said Novak, who has scored eight goals in this season's Slovakian league. "After one of the matches I had an interview with manager Alex McLeish. The coach asked me how I liked England, if I was glad to be at Birmingham and complimented me in the end." Novak claims to have no knowledge of how talks are going between Birmingham and Kosice with the two clubs trying to thrash out a deal for the £2.7 million-rated front-man. He added: "I know nothing of that. It is a matter of the both clubs' representatives and my agent. "Anyway, I would not at all be against a move to Birmingham. It is a dream for every footballer to play in the English Premier League. I would be extremely happy if it became a reality."
