Eintracht Frankfurt have loaned Markus Steinhofer to Bundesliga 2 leaders FC Kaiserslautern for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old joined Frankfurt on a Bosman transfer in June 2008 and was a first-team regular in his first season at the club.
But Michael Skibbe replaced Friedhelm Funkel as manager of the side and the midfielder has only featured five times this term under the new boss.
Frankfurt executive Heribert Bruchhagen said the loan was to give Steinhofer the chance to play regular first-team football until the end of the season.
Steinhofer will then return to Frankfurt at the end of his loan as Kaiserslautern do not have a buy option regarding the midfielder.
