Mainz have snapped up Czech playmaker Jan Simak from Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart.
The 31-year-old has signed an 18-month contact at Stadion an Bruchweg.
Simak joined Stuttgart from Carl Zeiss Jena in 2008, and has previously turned out for Hannover, Bayer Leverkusen and Sparta Prague.
He joins Mainz with the club sitting 10th in the German top flight, five points ahead of Stuttgart.
"Jan Simak further expands our options in attack," Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel told the club's official website.
"He is a player who can directly help us."
