Goalkeeping coach eager to return to playing

Goalkeeping coach Simon Brown has left Northampton to join a Blue Square Premier side as he is keen to continue playing. The 33-year-old moved to Sixfields in September as back-up to No.1 Chris Dunn, but after seeing the youngster put in a series of superb performances has decided to depart in search of on-field action. Manager Ian Sampson said: "Simon has left the club and will sign as a player for a Blue Square Premier club. "We are working on bringing in a goalkeeping coach and hopefully we will have something in place in the next few days. "Chris Dunn has worked his socks off and regardless of who has been coaching him he deserves most of the credit. "Simon helped Chris but Simon also wants to play. I didn't think he would play here and so we had an agreement that if a club came in for him we would let him go and that is what has happened. "We amended his playing registration in January and now this opportunity has come his way we wish him the best of luck."
