Scrappy point for Town

Hannah Cawsey takes a 'football virgin' to Notts County

I would like to start this blog by thanking everyone for the response to last week's blog. Thanks to a few County fans it was my most popular blog yet and it's nice to know they take such an avid interest in Grimsby Town as well their own club. It's been an interesting week and it feels like ages since I've made it up north as I'm still waiting on the arrival of my cousin who is being a stubborn baby and not wanting to come out. I keep threatening to force the baby in to being a Grimsby Town fan if it doesn't hurry along, but these threats don't seem to be working! However, I made it to Notts County away, obviously I took a detour via Hooters but immediately I was met by a fair few town fans who had made the relatively short journey to Nottingham. News via text came through the Woods had made another loan signing to add to a squad that in my opinion is already too big. However, taking into account the Town manager had no pre-season to sort the squad out and adopted a less than impressive, unfit squad from Mr Newell, I think this can be forgiven. The new loan came in the form of Hull's Jamie Devitt who was slow off the mark but picked up the pace just before half time to get an equaliser for Town. Like Devitt the whole team began cautiously and although the first half saw both County and Grimsby scoring, I think the second half was the more enjoyable of the two. Mainly because Town played a lot better after the break and my personal player of the month, Peter Bore seemed to find his feet again after a shakey first half performance from himself personally.

witty

I went with my friend's Luke and Bea from Leicester, Bea was a football virgin and found the town fans to be witty and impressively loud drowning out the County fans who were outnumbered in the home end by empty seats. She's even planning on coming to a few more games this season so Town must be doing something right. The 721 travelling fans were absolutely brilliant and in fine voice again so well done to them and also a BIG thank you to Gilly, Mikey, Jon and Newton who sang a few chants at my request (Twist and Shout being the main one). So I shall sign off - I'm still down in Hertfordshire at the moment with my little cousins Holly and Thomas and I've taken time out from playing Scooby Doo with them to write this blog so I best finish up now before I get shouted at. Oh and by the way ... did I mention I believe in karma again after Hughes saw red? Up the Mariners!
