Hornets to decide on fate of five trialists

Watford are still weighing up whether to add Everton youngsters Moses Barnett and John Nolan to their books this summer. Both are expected to be released by the Premier League club at the end of the season and have been on trial at Vicarage Road, playing in Watford's reserves on Monday night. Barnett, 19, can play at left-back or centre-back and started out at Arsenal. He has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, and played five games on loan at Darlington earlier this season. Nolan, meanwhile, is a 17-year-old midfielder who has been at Everton since he was seven.

Decision time

Three other trialists started the reserves' 9-3 victory against Stevenage Borough, namely Padraig Quinn, Ryan James and Rodney McDonald, and manager Malky Mackay is set to decide who to keep on. "We are going to have a look at a couple of them again for another few days and we will discuss it further tomorrow (Wednesday)," he told the Watford Observer. "There will be a couple leaving us and a couple who will be staying for another few days. "There was a lot of work done with our staff in terms of bringing together a lot of youngsters to look at for our Academy and youth set-up."
