James Lawrie, Dave Howland, Simon Richman and Danny Edwards will not be offered new contracts with Port Vale. Lawrie's release comes as a shock with the 19-year-old striker believed to have a big future in the game having already received Northern Ireland recognition at senior international level. The youngster, who has made four substitute appearances for the Valiants this season, spent time on trial at Premier League club Everton last summer and has recently returned from a loan spell at non-league side Kidderminster. Midfielders Howland, Edwards and Richman - who have appeared 13 times from the bench between them this term - will also join Lawrie in leaving the Vale Park club this summer. The news comes after it was announced Daniel Lloyd-Weston, Luke Prosser, Ross Davidson and Danny Glover will also be released at the end of the season.
