Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has decided to let six players leave the club after defeat in the play-offs.

Curtis and McLachlan among those to be let go by McIlroy

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has decided to let six players leave the club following defeat in the League Two play-offs. The Shrimps lost to Dagenham in the play-off semi-finals and are preparing to move into their new stadium at the Globe Arena next season. But Wayne Curtis and Fraser McLachlan, along with youngsters Aaron Taylor, Matty Poole, Ben Jackson and Rory Winters, have been told they have no future with the Shrimps. McIlroy said: "It is always difficult telling players that they are being released and people like Wayne Curtis and Fraser McLachlan have been great professionals and servants for Morecambe. "Along with the other boys, who all have good futures ahead of them, I would like to wish them all the best for their futures. "But I have a number of people I want to bring in and you have to make difficult decisions at this time of the year."
