Fenton expects players to sign new deals

Bury director Brian Fenton is optimistic that most of the club's key players will stay at Gigg Lane this summer. Although he is resigned to losing skipper Stephen Dawson, Fenton is confident that Andy Morrell, David Buchanan, Brian Barry-Murphy and Ryan Cresswell will all sign new deals. He is also helping manager Alan Knill search for new arrivals as the Shakers look to push for promotion next season. "I am optimistic that the ones we have offered new deals to will stay. A few of them have suggested to us they would like to stay if we can sort everything out," Fenton told the Bury Times. "But they have 28 days to respond to us and until we have a firm answer back it is hard to plan too far ahead. "I know Alan is talking to players and he can start looking for players in one or two positions. "For example, Paul Scott has left so we need to find a right-back. It is still early days at the moment and hopefully things will move on in the next few weeks."
