Australia to call-up replacement
Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones has confirmed he will not be returning to the World Cup finals.
Jones was granted compassionate leave last week after he received news that his son had been diagnosed with leukaemia.
The Middlesbrough shot-stopper has now stated his desire to remain with his family.
"The World Cup is irrelevant for me now,' Jones admitted.
"When I walked into the room and Luca smiled when he saw me, that was worth more than anything the World Cup could ever give me.
"The treatment will last for five weeks and I want to be here as much as I can."
Australia are now set to call up Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic as Jones' replacement, subject to Fifa approval.
