Les Fennecs fantastique

England's performance against Algeria came as a shock to most of us - but not FanZoner Jon Green.

Algeria can be proud of their World Cup showing

Whilst the whole country have been left in complete dismay by England's shocking 'performance', one thing has perhaps gone unnoticed - the fantastic team performance of the Algerians. In my preview of the game, I told how tough it would be to break down Rabah Saadane's well-organised side and so it proved. Although I bet they didn't think it'll be that easy! Led by the magnificent Madjid Bougherra at the back, who was probably the best player on the field all evening, the Desert Foxes became more confident and assured as the game went on. The lively Karim Ziani was argubly the most dangerous attacker on show (although Emile Heskey ran him a close second!) Whatever the outcome of their next game against the USA, Algeria can look back on their performance against the English with great pride. It's just a shame their opponents didn't show the same passion. It's quite clear now what Algeria need to do in their final group game - simply WIN. If the Algerians can be patient and frustrate their opponents like they did against England then there's no reason why they can't progress to the next round (along with England, of course). What do you think? Were Algeria too good, or England just too bad? Fill in the feeback form below.
