Barnsley defender O'Neil Thompson's proposed season-long loan to Darlington is in doubt.
Darlington had reached a deal with the Tykes for the loan of the Jamaica international.
However, manager Simon Davey has since left Barnsley for Hereford, casting doubt over the initial agreement.
Barnsley director Don Rowing told
The Star: "I don't know what is going to happen. I think we have hit a brick wall with Simon having left.
"Maybe Darlington will still want him but we will have to see what happens."
The 26-year-old Thompson joined Barnsley from Notodden FK and has since made one just appearance for the club.
