Doncaster welcome injury-prone striker back to fold

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll has welcomed the return of striker Steve Brooker following a succession of ankle-related problems. The 29-year-old joined the Championship club from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee last year but Brooker suffered an ankle injury which ruled him out for the whole of last season. The Rovers boss is pleased that Brooker has made a full return to pre-season training and believes that the forward's return 'is like having a new player'. O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "Steve is doing fine and he's looked good in training. "His ankle is OK and he's pain free for, probably, the first time in two years. "When players have been out, they might lose their pace and strength, but Steve has a great touch - he always has - and that has been evident in the times he has trained with the first team. "It's been good. It's been like having a new player. Psychologically it's good for him to kick a football and join in with everybody. "He's been impressive in training and hopefully he's going to be OK. "He'll hopefully get some games while we are in Warwick or in Devon."
