Northern Ireland striker hoping for permanent deal
James Lawrie has spoken of his determination to win a permanent deal with Exeter once his trial is over.
The Northern Ireland international was released by Port Vale at the end of last season, but Grecians boss Paul Tisdale has offered the 19-year-old the opportunity to impress over a two-week period at the League One club.
Lawrie struggled to break into Micky Adams' Vale side despite winning two caps for the national team and was sent out on loan to Kidderminster last season.
However he was hoping that his talent would be recognised by Tisdale and prove he can be a fixture in the side.
Progressive
"I would really like to be an Exeter player," Lawrie told the
Express & Echo.
"They have had a lot of success in the last few years and you can tell this is a progressive club.
"The manager, the staff and all the players are out to improve and it is a good club to be around. The atmosphere is positive and the training enjoyable.
"There have been a few clubs interested in me, but none of the stature of Exeter. This is where I would like to be.
"The manager is looking for a striker and hopefully I can be the one he is looking for."
