Eredivisie strugglers sign Blackburn forward to replace Demouge
Willem II have signed Maceo Rigters on loan from Blackburn following the departure of Frank Demouge.
Blackburn signed Rigters from NAC Breda in 2007 after he helped Holland win the Under-21 European Championship, topping the scoring charts with four goals.
But the 26-year-old forward has failed to live up to expectations at Ewood Park and has made just eight appearances for Rovers, while going out on loan to Norwich and Barnsley.
Rigters has one year left on his Blackburn contract and will be hoping to put himself in the shop window with a positive spell at Willem II.
The Tilburg-based outfit are rock-bottom of the Eredivisie after failing to earn a point in their opening four league games and were also keen to boost their strike-force because of the loss of Demouge.
Utrecht deal
FC Utrecht signed the 28-year-old striker on a three-year deal, with the option for another season.
Coach Ton Du Chatinier was looking for cover following an injury to Jacob Melunga and is hoping Demouge can form a partnership with man of the moment, Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
His hat-trick dumped Celtic out of the Europa League play-offs and booked Utrecht's place in the group stage, where they will face Liverpool, Napoli and Steaua Bucharest.
