No France desire for Boumsong

Image: Boumsong: Focused on club

Panathinaikos defender Jean-Alain Boumsong has as good as given up hope of playing again for France.

But centre-back would answer any call from Blanc

Panathinaikos defender Jean-Alain Boumsong has as good as given up hope of playing again for France before he retires. The former Rangers, Newcastle and Juventus centre-back moved to Greece this summer after leaving Lyon. Boumsong expects Panathinaikos to be his last club before he brings an end to his playing days and for that reason he is not overly concerned by his international opportunities. The 30-year-old has made 27 appearances for France, but he thinks that new manager Laurent Blanc will be looking towards a next generation of players. Boumsong told the Canal Football Club television programme: "I am under contract with Panathinaikos for three seasons and it will probably be my last three years as a player. "The French team is not an obsession for me anymore. I am focused on my club. "However, if Laurent Blanc was to call me I would go."
