Hearts allow midfielder to continue his loan spell

Hearts are to allow midfielder David Witteveen continue his loan spell at cash-strapped Dundee. Nine players were made redundant by the club last Friday after falling into administration in what has been a disastrous past few months, despite sitting in mid-table in the Scottish First Division. Witteveen and St Johnstone midfielder Jamie Adams have been retained at Dens Park, however, to try and keep the team at a level where they can realistically compete. The Austrian, who spent time on loan at Morton last season, signed a three-month agreement in August. "In light of what has happened at Dens Park, we could have brought David back to the club to join up again with the first-team squad," said a Hearts spokesman. "However, given the circumstances in which Dundee finds itself, we have decided that would not be an appropriate course of action. "David will now remain with Dundee until the end of his loan period."
