Skipper Martin Amedick has shown his faith in newly-promoted Kaiserslautern by agreeing new terms with the club.
The 28-year-old's deal was due to expire at the end of the current season but he will now remain at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion until June 2014, with an option for a further year.
Amedick said he wanted to show his faith by agreeing a new deal at this moment in time with the Bundesliga newcomers sitting 14th in the top flight with seven points from their opening eight games.
The key defender, who joined Kaiserslautern from Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and helped the club win the German second tier last season, is convinced they will stay up.
Easy decision
He told the club's
official website: "This has been an easy decision for me, I am enjoying being part of the club and I like the way we are progressing as a team.
"This season we are back in the Bundesliga and we have the desire to keep the club in the top flight for longer.
"I intend to set a sign, signing a new deal with the club at this point in time as things may actually look a bit adverse.
"I am convinced about the squad's quality and I am sure we are going to remain in the Bundesliga."
